And so it begins...

The way I figure, it's only fair to start with some background on me in order to get you hooked on my Blog. I am 21 and live in a rather small college city in western Virginia. I moved here straight from home in early January 2009 to work at the Emergency Communications Center, or 911 for short. It's a demanding job and most times I can't stand to tell people where I work without a puzzled look or the infamous, "What's t he craziest call you've ever gotten?" line that seems to escape the mouth of every new person I meet. I guess people think that the person they talk to when they call 911 isn't a real person, well quite the contrary we are quite human and honestly resent a lot of the people we deal with day to day. Don't get me wrong though, most of us do enjoy our jobs very much and wait with bated breath for the next time the phone will ring or for one of our officers needing assistance over the radio. I started the job at 18 in a very small county based fire and rescue PSAP, (Public Safety Answering Point), only dispatching fire and rescue calls and taking ems and fire related calls over the phone. I'm starting this Blog to be able to remember some of the good times that I've had at work, and record some of the bad ones so i eventually can laugh at them and make sure that the mistakes that I make don't happen again.
